This project focuses on the incorporation of dendrimers in water filtration systems. Dendrimer coatings on reverse osmosis membranes have been shown to reduce the effects fouling has on the membrane flux. The dendrimer coating needs to be removed when it becomes saturated with foulant. This project focuses on novel methods of removing the dendrimer coating from the membrane as well as coating the membrane with the dendrimer. Furthermore, the feasibility of dendrimer coated ultrafiltration mebranes is examined, specifically focusing on their ability to remove trace water contaminants.
